Finding a Perfect Match for Janet Liang

My friend had mentioned her friend (Janet) about her need for a match last summer after church service. I don’t think at the time I realized how serious it was. I personally don’t know anyone who has leukemia or know anyone incredible close battling cancer. But seeing this video (click the title above) touched my heart and struck a cord. I am excited to say that I will be registering to be a bone marrow donor this Saturday! I thought how scary it would be to actually get surgery done and the pain during recovery, but that doesn’t even come close to being scared of losing your life. Out of the thousands of registered donors, only 7% are of Asian decent. Please register and you could save a life! :)

It’s been awhile, tumblr.
I’ve been busy with an increasing load of work! Working in staffing has been such a learning experience through seeing this end of the corporate world. I don’t do the firing (thank goodness) but seeing the behind the scenes of bringing in a candidate and hopefully becoming an employee is definitely an eye-opener. O_0 like so!
My coworkers are the highlight of my day. I don’t think many can say that. They are the reason I laugh so many times in the day. Even before I joined the dept., I could tell at the front desk they were the social one’s that I would hope to work along side with one day, and here I am! My boss is super cool too. Kind of like a mother but not overbearing :) She hates spiders so around Halloween we’d hide little plastic black spiders in around her messy desk and wait for a scream each day :) Our little staffing niche includes: 1. sharing food. Breakfast is $2 so us early birds load up to share w/ the later birdies. Also we bring in snacks to share at our many community cubes/tables. 2. Roll our chairs from cube to cube. It’s weird we’re the only area in all 6 buildings/2500+ people that share cubes! They’re about 2.5 times bigger than your average cube to share every 2 people. It really forces you to mingle :) So we visit each other down our narrow isle- again, no other isle is THAT narrow on the whole campus! It’s a good 3 feet in diameter so we always bump into each other. 3. We are constantly cracking jokes and making fun of each other. There’s a generation gap, me being the youngest and the oldest..50’s? It’s funny hearing the terms they say here and there and I have to ask what they mean. We play argue, imitate each other, things like that. Pretty surprising when you got hiring managers breathing down your back for resumes, pushing offers to get approved, candidates acting like princesses :)
One of the recruiters I get along most with/currently support her has the most hilarious momma stories. She raises a 4 year old girl who is full of life. Today’s story was.. “I was talking on the phone when I was driving (at lunch) to get Elyse when I missed my exit. I got lost and ended up being 10 minutes late. They (private school) charge $1 per every minute you’re late. She was in the principal’s office and when I came in she looked at me and said, ‘Mommy, I’m hungry :( I want chicken skin..chicken skin :(’ Then the staff looked at me weird like what is she feeding her kid?!..*in the car* Elyse why couldn’t you say like..apple! I want an apple!” ahaha ahh.
One more: I put in a facilities ticket request b/c everyone kept complaining the AC was too cold and the recruiter above was saying she wears gloves on all day to stay warm. So I get an email that the ticket is closed, and the AC should be okay. I forward it to the recruiter and say, no need for mittens!! She replies, o ya? then why am I still wearing them?? I said, because you are a cold hearted mommy! she replies, I’ll smack Elyse around and get warm. hahaah ok maybe not everyone will get this but she jokingly does things like eating a sprinkled donut and gives her daughter the plain one. And not to mention forgetting to pick her up one day hahaha. If you didn’t know her and saw her, you would not think she would talk like that because she looks so sweet and innocent.
I think that’s enough for one post and I’ve caught up for a good couple months. Peace out tumblr!
